With the international break coming to an end, it’s finally time to turn our attention back to the Bundesliga – and, of course, the league’s official Fantasy game.

In this Fantasy Bundesliga article, we’ll highlight 10 players to consider adding to your team ahead of Matchday 5.

As a rule of thumb, we'll try to steer clear of the most obvious picks, instead focusing mainly on players who could offer great value as differentials.

Koki Machida, Hoffenheim (3.47M, 0%)

After making his long-awaited return from a long-term injury, Machida was in the starting lineup for Hoffenheim’s disappointing 3-1 defeat to Paderborn just before the international break. The 29-year-old should have a good chance of starting again, especially with Albian Hajdari having suffered an injury during the international break and being a big question mark at the moment. While Machida isn’t expected to produce huge points, he’s an excellent budget differential as Hoffenheim look to get back to winning ways at home against 16th-placed Hamburger SV.

Tom Rothe, Union Berlin (5.91M, 2%)

After losing 7-0 to Bayern Munich to suffer their third straight defeat, Union Berlin have had the international break to try to get things right ahead of their home game against Elversberg this weekend – a match they will be targeting a win in. Even if a victory against the newly-promoted side is by no means guaranteed, Tom Rothe is an excellent option, ranking second for Union in both xG (0.96) and xA (0.70) this season. It also doesn’t hurt his appeal that he recently scored for Germany’s U21s in a 4-1 win over Malta.

Josha Vagnoman, Stuttgart (7.22M, 26%)

Averaging 178 points per game, Vagnoman has been one of the top budget options in defence so far this season. Operating in an attacking role on the right side of Stuttgart’s defence, the Germany international is an excellent, cheaper alternative to teammate Maximilian Mittelstädt as Stuttgart look to claim three much-needed points against Paderborn.

Maximilian Mittelstädt, Stuttgart (17.53M, 8%)

Impressively, despite Stuttgart having lost three of their first four league games of the season, Mittelstädt is currently the third-best performing defender in the game, averaging 216 points. The 29-year-old is even his side’s penalty taker, further adding to his appeal as one of the top defensive picks for the upcoming matchday. The only downside is his price tag.

Bambasé Conté, Hoffenheim (Midfielder, 6.35M, 4%)

After making a decent start to the season with Hoffenheim, Conté was handed his first Germany call-up and went on to feature in three of four UEFA Nations League games during the international break. That experience should give the attacking midfielder plenty of confidence, with his 6.35 million price tag making him an appealing option heading into Hoffenheim’s home game against HSV.

Said El Mala, 1. FC Köln (Midfielder, 12.16M, 12%)

Another player who recently made his international debut, El Mala is another top midfield option as Köln host local rivals Borussia Mönchengladbach. The visitors will head into their first game under new coach Alexander Blessin after a horrible start to the season. With Gladbach having conceded at least three goals in every league game so far, El Mala, arguably Köln’s biggest game-changer, looks like an especially appealing option despite Die Fohlen now having a new coach at the helm.

Konstatinos Karetsas, Borussia Dortmund (Midfielder, 15.88M, 9%)

A nailed-on starter and highly involved attacking player for a Borussia Dortmund side who have won all four of their league games so far, the young Greece international looks like one of the best picks for the coming two matchdays. Dortmund face Werder Bremen and Union Berlin next, giving Karetsas a very appealing run of fixtures.

Mikey Moore, 1. FC Köln (Striker, 6.44M, 2%)

With a little more clinical finishing, Moore could have scored in Köln’s disappointing 2-1 defeat to HSV before the international break, but the youngster still managed to pick up a respectable 142 points. With Köln now taking on crisis-hit Gladbach at home, the Tottenham loanee is certainly an interesting option at his price.

Serhou Guirassy, Borussia Dortmund (Striker, 19.29M, 23%)

With four goals and two assists in six games in all competitions this season, Guirassy should have a very good chance of getting on the scoresheet again as Dortmund welcome Werder Bremen to Signal Iduna Park on Friday night. BVB will be strong favourites to claim all three points, making their star striker one of the standout options up front.

Harry Kane, FC Bayern (Striker, 36.9M, 16%)

Despite being the biggest guarantee for goals and having by far the highest probability of scoring a hat-trick in the league, Kane’s popularity sits at just 16 percent. That is probably mainly down to his hefty price tag, with many managers finding it difficult to fit both him and Michael Olise into their teams. That relatively low ownership makes Kane an even more attractive option for those willing to invest in the star striker, who has scored at least once in six consecutive games for Bayern and England.
