After a remarkable 2023/24 season on loan at RB Leipzig, Xavi Simons is due to return to his parent club, Paris Saint-Germain, as things stand.

However, it appears there's a good chance Simons will spend next season in the Bundesliga, with Leipzig keen to retain his services and Bayern Munich also interested.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund certainly didn't play down the speculation.

On the contrary, he was full of praise for the Netherlands international.

"He is a very good player. He had a very good European Championship and a great season with Leipzig," Freund said.

“He's developed really well. I think he's going to have a really good career at the highest level. He has everything, mentality, character and is just an exceptional player.”

Simons, 21, has a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2027. He scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga matches for Leipzig last season.
