Füllkrug says he wasn't a good fit for Dortmund's playing style: "A striker hopes for more chances to score when he joins BVB"

Germany and West Ham forward Niclas Füllkrug doesn't think the style of play at his former club Borussia Dortmund suited him.

Niclas Füllkrug has previously admitted that Dortmund's decision to sign Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart pushed him to leave the club for West Ham.

However, that was only one of the reasons, as the striker has now told Sport Bild that he doesn't think enough chances were created for him.

“Last season, I was able to experience the European Championship at home with the national team with unforgettable moments, and play in the Champions League final with BVB. This created opportunities for me, also due to the squad situation at Borussia Dortmund, which I had to deal with,” Füllkrug said in the interview.

"In the last three or four years, I've managed to get better and better. I want to keep it that way. It's very important to have a club where I play a central role, where I'm important. Where the style of play is focused on me to a certain extent.

"BVB expect a lot of goals from a striker. But of course an attacker also hopes for more chances to score when he joins BVB," the striker said.
