Germany U19 end international break with unbeaten record after Czechia draw

Hanno Balitsch’s side recorded a win and two draws in the extended international break in their preparation for next month’s Euros qualifiers.

Germany U19 drew 1-1 with Czechia in their third and last friendly in Spain ahead of next month’s qualification games for the European championship. Hanno Balistch’s side beat Finland in the middle of stalemates with Ukraine and Czechia.

After a goalless draw with the side coached by former Arsenal defender Oleh Luzhnyi, Noah Ringbeck’s brace helped Germany to a 2-1 victory over Finland on Wednesday.

Alexander Staff, who scored 21 goals at the U16 and U17 level, got his first goal for the U19 with a first-half penalty-kick against Czechia on Saturday. Idris Hopi scored the equalizing goal after the break for the hosts of the 2027 U19 Euros.

Germany will face Lithuania, Portugal and Sweden as the second round of the U19 Euros qualification starts in November. Balitsch’s side lost to record winners Spain in the most recent final of the annual competition.

That result already confirmed their place for the 50th anniversary of the U20 World Cup that will be co-hosted by Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
