FC Augsburg centre-back Noahkai Banks has decided to represent Germany rather than the United States.

Banks has played for the United States at youth level until now and even received a senior call-up in September last year, but without making his debut.

However, the 20-year-old has now switched his allegiance to Germany and has been called up to Antonio Di Salvo’s U21 national team for the first time.

Freiburg-owned Karlsruhe loanee Louey Ben Farhat, who has made two senior friendly appearances for Tunisia, has also opted to represent Germany alongside Banks, Di Salvo confirmed.

“We have been in contact for some time and have worked hard to bring the players on board. I’m very pleased that we were able to show both of them a pathway at the DFB, which they have accepted,” Di Santo said.
