It seems highly unlikely that Mats Hummels will extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund when it expires this summer.
According to Bild, it's almost certain that the 35-year-old will leave the club. Unless a "miracle" happens, Hummels will be heading for the exit door, the German tabloid claims.
The main reason for Hummels' departure is said to be his poor relationship with coach Edin Terzic, which has become irreparable.
In addition, there are doubts within the club as to whether Hummels will be able to continue playing at his current high level next season.
Following Borussia Dortmund's Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday, Hummels insisted that a decision on his future had not yet been made.
“I have no idea, I really don't," Hummels said when asked if the game against Real Madrid was his last.
"It feels weird not knowing. I like the situation, but it's a bit weird too.”
With Hummels unlikely to hang up his boots, a move to another European league seems likely. AC Milan are believed to be among the suitors for the veteran centre-back.
