Ethan Nwaneri has made two appearances for Borussia Dortmund since joining the club on loan from Arsenal, coming off the bench against TSG Hoffenheim and Villarreal, with the Black and Yellows winning both games 3-2.
Speaking ahead of Dortmund’s upcoming Bundesliga clash against SC Paderborn on Saturday, head coach Niko Kovač said the 19-year-old has impressed him so far.
“We already wanted to sign Ethan last season because we believed in him then, and we still do,” Kovač said at his pre-match press conference.
“He has integrated really well, he fits in and he’s a good guy – very calm and down-to-earth, friendly and helpful.
“In his two appearances, he has already shown that he can help the team with his abilities. I’m very pleased with him, and he will continue to be very important in the coming weeks and months,” Kovač emphasised.
Nwaneri now has a good chance of making his first start for Dortmund against Paderborn, with the unavailability of Konstantinos Karetsas increasing the likelihood of the 19-year-old being named in the starting line-up.
