Dortmund go the other way, and Jobe Bellingham has a go from the edge of the box - but Urbig reaches out and punches it away from the bottom-left corner. The hosts clear and reset, but that one registers as the first shot on target in this match.

Olise threads the ball to Konrad Laimer, who has only Kobel to beat from the right side of the box - but the Swiss goalkeeper charges out and deflects it away just in time with a swift punch.

Bayern are holding a slight advantage in terms of possession, at 52 % - but neither side has really taken control of this match. Dortmund are using the right flank to their advantage so far, whereas Bayern appear to be in better control on the left wing. Felix Nmecha has brought quite a bit of pace to the visitors' game, and could be an absolute nuisance for Bayern this evening.

13': BAYERN 0-0 DORTMUND

Niko Kovač appears to have changed up his defensive strategy, and Dortmund appear to be using a high-intensity press, placing two players in close proximity to every man in red. Ismael Saibari was cut off in a perfect example of this just moments ago, sandwiched between Joane Gadou and Carney Chukwuemeka before the latter wins the ball back with a sharp standing tackle.

Alphonso Davies is brought down by Nico Schlotterbeck, who also taps the ball away in the process. Olise sees an opening and hits the ball off the right post. First dangerous chance of the evening for the hosts, who are controlling the pace of play in this match with 63 % possession.

7': BAYERN 0-0 DORTMUND

Kane attempts a lob from the middle of the ground, in the direction of Olise on the right side of the Dortmund penalty area, but it does not test Gregor Kobel too much - the Swiss goalkeeper charges out and latches onto the ball with both hands.

5': BAYERN 0-0 DORTMUND

Alphonso Davies is brought down at the edge of the box by Jobe Bellingham, on the left side of the Dortmund third; the Englishman takes a yellow card from head official Tobias Stieler. Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Joshua Kimmich all step over the free kick; Kimmich knocks the ball short to Kane, whose powerful cross towards the right side of the goal area is headed away by Beier.

2': BAYERN 0-0 DORTMUND

This is the thirteenth time that the two sides play each other in October. Why that is significant is because the two met for the first time on 16. October 1965 - a 2-0 victory for Dortmund on a pair of goals from Reinhold Wosab, both assisted by Lothar Emmerich (38', 83').

All-time, Bayern are 5-4-3 against Dortmund in October meetings.

And this one is officially underway! Dortmund, in black and yellow, will go left to right in the opening term; Bayern, in red and white, will go right to left.

The two sides are about to take the field at Allianz Arena. Once they enter, there will be a special ceremony for Harry Kane because of the Ballon d'Or victory. Kane is the fourth player, and the first non-Germany international, to win the Ballon d'Or as a member of FC Bayern; the other three were Gerd Müller (1970), Franz Beckenbauer (1972, 1976), and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (1980, 1981).

Players to watch for both sides:

FC BAYERN - Harry Kane: It goes without saying that the recipient of the Ballon d'Or earlier this week would be the highlight player for the hosts in this match. Bayern have so much star power, but the Englishman has been key to their recent Bundesliga form; he finished with 36 goals last season, 17 above league runner-ups Deniz Undav and Serhou Guirassy, and has followed it up in this season with four goals and five assists.

DORTMUND - Serhou Guirassy: The same way that Dortmund want to stop Kane from getting powerful chances inside the box, Bayern will want to do the same for Guirassy. As mentioned above, the France-born Guinean international finished second in scoring last season, and has managed two goals and two assists in this current campaign - on top of his four UEFA Champions League goals through just three matches in that competition.

In the 49 times that the two sides have faced each other dating back to 2010, Bayern are 27-9-13. Four of the five most recent meetings have come in the Bundesliga, with the fifth in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup this past August; Bayern are unbeaten in all of those five (3-2-0).

The last time that Dortmund won was at the Allianz Arena on 30. March 2024, a 2-0 result on goals from Karim Adeyemi (10') and Julian Ryerson (83'). While this additional stat is more relevant to the reverse meeting on the weekend of 6. March 2027, Dortmund have not defeated Bayern at home since 10. November 2018, 3-2 on goals from Marco Reus (49' P, 67') and Paco Alcacer (73'); Robert Lewandowski (26', 52'), a former Dortmund man himself, scored both goals for Bayern in that match.

To start our coverage for tonight, here are the confirmed lineups for this match. Vincent Kompany's Bayern will play a 4-2-3-1, while Niko Kovač's Dortmund will play a 3-4-2-1.

Good evening everyone, and welcome to liveblog coverage of the eighth matchweek of the 2026/27 Bundesliga season. Tonight, on this final day of October, we have an exciting primetime match: FC Bayern München, thirteen-time champions in the last fourteen years, against Borussia Dortmund, looking to win their first title since 2011/12.

Red and white against black and yellow. Bayern against Nordrhein-Westfalen. Two massive clubs with massive fanbases, going against each other with both sides unbeaten and with the same amount of points - in a clash that could be huge to ultimately determining who gets the worthy honour of lifting the Meisterschale next May.

My name is Simo Frigolé, and over the next three hours, we are going to go through the top derby in German football, with minute-by-minute updates as the events unfold at Allianz Arena.
