It has been widely reported that Liverpool secured a €80 million buy-back option, which becomes active at the end of the season, when they sold Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen for €35 million last summer.

According to Sport Bild, it's “considered unlikely” that the Reds will trigger the clause.

However, the report also claims Liverpool will have another opportunity to re-sign the defender next year at a lower price, with the buy-back fee reportedly dropping to €65 million in the summer of 2027.

The report further states that Liverpool deliberately structured the deal to allow for a potential return for Quansah after two years to succeed 34-year-old defensive boss Virgil van Dijk.

Quansah has made 38 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen since his move from Liverpool last summer, scoring four goals.
