Köln were unable to celebrate victory in their last home game of the season as Heidenheim climbed off the bottom of Bundesliga with a deserved 3-1 win. For Marius Bülter, it was the first occasion he scored in back-to-back games since the first couple of matchdays. However, that wasn’t at the top of his concerns after the game.

“From a tight angle, you know you have to shoot high,” said the vastly experienced winger about his 10th-minute strike before the talk centered on the lackluster result. “In the end, you have to say that we were just two or three percent short of winning the game today.

“You saw a team fighting for survival, and that wasn't us. That was disappointing. We have to be careful not to let one bad game ruin the whole season.”

Köln will end the season away at champions FC Bayern next Saturday. “Even if it's difficult to accept it after this game, we secured our place in the league with two matchdays to go.” concluded Bülter with a far positive outlook.
