Up until the start of this season, Muheim has been a regular starter in recent years and has already made 159 appearances, producing 10 goals, 37 assists for HSV.

Having overcome an adductor problem, Miro Muheim has kept his cards close to his chest regarding his future at Hamburger SV.

"We have to see how things go on the pitch," the experienced full-back said during a recent interview with Sport BILD.

“After that, we can see what might happen next. But I'm not even thinking about that [my future at the club] yet.”

With Muheim's deal at HSV destined to expire next summer, not renewing his contract would enable him to leave on a free transfer.

Even with his focus on Switzerland's efforts at the 2026 World Cup, he hadn't completely ruled out a departure last summer.

"I've been here for five years now, and of course you look at whether or how you might be able to change and take the next step.

"You also don't know if the club wants to sell you. (...) But a transfer was never my priority. I'm very happy to be here.

"Pre-season was unfortunate for me because I was away for an extended period and the minor injury came at a bad time.

"Now I'm fighting for my place. That can also be good for me if I approach it in the right way," the 28-year-old concluded.
