Jamal Musiala will start for Germany in their World Cup opener against debutants Curaçao. FC Bayern's attacking midfielder was one of Germany’s best performers in the last World Cup, but he had a difficult campaign after missing months due to a serious injury.

Jürgen Klopp and Thomas Müller initiated a debate that Deniz Undav might be a better option for the starting XI, although the Bundestrainer sticks with his decision. “Musiala could only get into rhythm if he has playing time. And he'll get that tomorrow,” Nagelsmann confirmed in his press conference.

After missing a total of 10 Germany games due to the injury he suffered in the Club World Cup, Musiala started the friendlies against Finland and USA. The 23-year-old scored nine goals in 42 caps for Germany.
