Michael Carrick is under huge pressure as Manchester United coach after a 4-1 defeat to Como in the Champions League on Wednesday extended the Red Devils’ winless run to seven games.

According to talkSPORT, Manchester United are seemingly already preparing for life without Carrick and have identified former Bayern Munich and Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann as their leading candidate to replace him.

The 39-year-old, who left his role as Germany boss following a disappointing World Cup, was linked with the job before Carrick was appointed permanently in May and is understood to have admirers within the club’s hierarchy.

Another German coach, Brighton & Hove Albion boss Fabian Hürzeler, is also being mentioned as a candidate, alongside Antonio Conte and Eddie Howe.
