German pundit and former international Lothar Matthäus has expressed disappointment with Donyell Malen in the wake of Borussia Dortmund's 1-0 defeat to Gladbach on Saturday.

Malen is yet to find the net in nine appearances for Dortmund following his €30 million move from PSV Eindhoven, and Matthäus admits the Dutch international hasn't lived up to his expectations so far.

"I think you can expect a bit more from newcomer Donyell Malen," Matthäus wrote in his weekly column for Sky Germany.

"I've been disappointed with him so far. In Gladbach, he barely skipped past an opponent and didn't put his mark on the game offensively."

Malen is in line to start up front when Dortmund face Sporting CP in the Champions League tonight.
