Confirmed: BVB to let Zagadou depart after season

Borussia Dortmund boss Sebastian Kehl officially confirmed to NRW's "Ruhr Nachrichten" that the club would not be extending the contract of Dax-Axel Zagadou on Thursday.

The Frenchman will be available to any club willing to take a chance on a free.
French defender Dan-Axel Zagadou will join the list of Dortmund departures this summer. Incoming BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl, speaking to local daily Ruhr Nachrichten, confirmed that the 22-year-old's expiring contract will no be renewed. Kehl noted that the decision came after "open and frank discussions with the player."

The young Frenchmen's five-season tenure with die Schwarzgelben thus comes to a close. Zagadou--once considered a €30 million player--was dogged by persistent injury misfortune after making the step to BVB from PSG. His estimated market worth has sunk to €9 million. There remains some interest in the potential laden player. He was linked with Manchester United early in the current calendar year.

The parting of company with the injury-prone Zagadou leaves Dortmund with six players to send off on Saturday in their final match of the season at Signal Iduna Park. Keeper Roman Bürki, midfielder Axel Witsel, retiring defender Marcel Schmelzer, and loanees Marin Pongracic and Reinier are the other confirmed departures.
