What's next for Borussia Dortmund?
We haven't reached the month of June, and BVB have already locked in some major signings. Who else will Sebastian Kehl reel in to continue this rebuild?
It's well known that Borussia Dortmund have major weaknesses that can't be ignored for much longer. With 5 transfers confirmed for the window already, new sporting director Sebastian Kehl is clearly fed up with these 2nd place finishes. But will his work this summer be enough to close the gap?
First things first, Edin Terzić is back at the helm in hopes of replicating that DFB-Pokal magic from a year ago. He faces an immediate uphill climb as Dortmund are in the midst of transforming their squad after years of inaction.
Forward Karim Adeyemi, defenders Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Süle, midfielder Salih Özcan and goalkeeper Marcel Lotka are the confirmed newcomers thus far, with the signing of SSV Jahn Regensburg's Alexander Meyer as a replacement for departing second-choice goalkeeper Marwin Hitz expected to be announced anytime soon. An impressive group that emphasizes immediate success with an eye towards the future. So what are the remaining gaps in the squad? Dortmund are still searching for a match at the number 9 position as well as further additions at the back.

Dortmund supporters are pleased with what they've seen so far, but are not finished dreaming just yet. €30 million-priced Saša Kalajdžić is heavily linked for a move with Youssoufa Moukoko's future clouded in uncertainty. BVB are also looking at 24 year-old RB Salzburg right-back Rasmus Kristensen who carries a fee of around €15 million.
Whether Raphaël Guerreiro departs or stays on, BVB are still looking for new talent such as youngster Ian Maatsen from Chelsea. Reports state that the BVB hierarchy think highly of Gladbach's Ramy Bensebaini whose flexibility is greatly admired. But Hoffenheim's David Raum as a left-back option is picking up more and more steam every day.
Kehl isn't finished. And for good reason as Dortmund fans now realize that Michael Zorc's last few transfer windows were not nearly enough. They must do more as hopes are high for the upcoming season with Robert Lewandowski looking to hit the exit door. Dortmund is already off to a blazing start and there is no time to waste.
