Schalke defender has attracted interest from Italy, confirms club boss

Malick Thiaw has attracted interest from Italy, admits Schalke 04 boss Rouven Schröder. AC Milan, Torino and Bologna are said to be keen on the 20-year-old centre-back.
Schalke 04 sporting director Rouven Schröder has confirmed that Malick Thiaw has attracted interest from the Italian Serie A.

"Overall, there is a lot of interest from the Serie A," Schröder confirmed in an interview with Sport Bild.

"He is a top central defender, still has a long-term contract and fits into our team very well, of course. But he knows my phone number, should a club show interest."

"No. But AC Milan came knocking for him six months ago, so of course we're talking about a certain category."

According to Bild, AC Milan, Torino and Bologna have shown interest in 20-year-old Thiaw, with around €8 million thought to be enough to prize him away from Schalke.
