Germany not thinking about 6-0 thrashing ahead of Spain game, insists Brandt
Heading into Sunday's game against Spain, Julian Brandt has insisted that the German team are not thinking about the 6-0 defeat they suffered against 'La Roja' two years ago.
Last time the two teams met, in November 2020, Germany were thrashed 6-0 in Sevilla, but that result does not affect the German players at all, according to Julian Brandt.
"I don't think it matters. That was two years ago. We are in a different situation. We are much further, regardless of how the last results were," Brandt said at a press conference today.
"We're in a crappy situation, and Spain are coming off a 7-0 win. But this is an opportunity for us to release a lot of energy.
"A little bit over a year ago, we also lost to France in the opener, and then we beat Portugal in the second game. This is a familiar situation for the squad. I don't think that the 6-0 result still plays a role."
