After technically being returned to FC Augsburg following a year-long-loan in America's MLS, 25-year-old Venezuelan striker Sergio Cordova has now officially signed with an MLS. The German club confirmed on Monday that the 15-times-capped international will join the Vancouver Whitecaps on a new contract good through 2025.

The local Augsburger Allgemeine Zeitung reports that the Fuggerstädter will receive some €2.1 million in compensation. Cordova's loan club Real Salt Lake, which retained the right of first refusal for the player, will also receive around €185,000 and a draft pick from the Canadian club. The MLS system allows franchises to draft both college players and European players under contract.

"Sergio Córdova signaled early on that he would like to continue playing in MLS," FCA sporting director Stefan Reuter remarked in a statement, "After we were able to sign a lot of quality attackers this winter, we wanted to give him this chance in Vancouver, especially since the economic conditions of the move also fit for us. We wish Sergio Córdova every success for the future in the MLS and all the best personally."
