Chelsea vs. Borussia Dortmund preview: Team news and predicted lineups

Here is our preview, including predicted line-ups, for Tuesday's Champions League Round of 16 second leg clash between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund.
After beating Chelsea 1-0 in a tight encounter at Signal Iduna Park in the first of two Champions League last-16 clashes, Borussia Dortmund will be looking to finish the job at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.

Coming off a crucial 2-1 win over RB Leipzig, Edin Terzic's men are in red-hot form, having won all 10 of their competitive matches so far in 2023.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have been in poor form of late, but ended a six-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over Leeds United on Saturday.

BVB coach Edin Terzic is expected to name the same team that beat Leipzig with the exception of Julian Ryerson, who is suspended and likely to be replaced by Raphael Guerreiro.

In addition to Ryerson, Dortmund will be without Karim Adeyemi, Julien Duranville, Mateu Morey and Youssoufa Moukoko due to injury.

Alexander Meyer will once again deputise for Gregor Kobel if Dortmund's first-choice goalkeeper does not recover in time from the knock he suffered before the Leipzig game.

Kobel will fly to London with his teammates this morning, but it's unclear if he'll be fit enough to play, with BVB set to make a late decision on his involvement. Donyell Malen, who missed Dortmund's win over Leipzig due to an ankle problem, has also made the plane.

Chelsea manager Graham Potter will have to decide whether to stick with the three-man backline he used against Leeds or revert to a back four, with his team needing to get on the scoresheet to turn the tie around.

Mason Mount is sidelined through suspension, while Edouard Mendy, Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, N'Golo Kante and Armando Broja are all out through injury. However, Reece James and former BVB player Christian Pulisic could both return to the squad.
