In the ongoing matter of Borussia Mönchengladbach squad captain Lars Stindl's future, a return of the 34-year-old to his old club appears ever more likely. The 34-year-old sits on an expiring contract and has been heavily linked with a return to the Karlsruher Sport Club.

A native of nearby Speyer, Stindl moved over to the KSC academy in the year 2000 at the age of 12. Stindl kicked with the Badeners for a full decade before moving to Hannover 96 and eventually Gladbach. The foals were thought to be interested in extending with him, but the coming full summer rebuild for the club will probably leave the BMG wishing to start over with a new skipper.

KSC sporting director Oliver Kreuzer, in an interview appearing in the local BNN newspaper on Saturday, confirmed contact with Stindl over a possible return home. Kreuzer cited the club's strong interest in their former player whilst firmly noting that his office had conducted talks with Stindl's representation.

"Yes, there's contact," Kreuzer noted, "Yes, we have a strong interest."
