Köln loan Lemperle out to Fürth

Having renewed his contract with FC Köln this past winter, developmental prospect Tim Lemperle now has a loan destination at which to further hone his skills. The 21-year-old German youth international already has 26 top tier appearances under his belt and even netted a pair of Bundesliga goals during the 2021/22 campaign. After making just 12 league appearances (all in relief) this season, however, both club and player had been working on a new locale to accord him more match practice.
"Tim, to put matters in perspective, did extremely well to establish himself in the top flight," Köln managing director managing director Christian Keller noted in a club statement, "It is important for Tim's development that he collects significantly more playing time than we can give him at the moment. The loan to Fürth therefore makes sense for everyone involved, also because SpVgg is a very suitable loan partner in terms of an environment conducive to the targeted development of young players."
Lemperle and SpVgg sporting director Rachid Azzouzi also both issued statements in which they expressed confidence that a mutually beneficial cooperation could be achieved. Lemperle - who maintains an estimated market worth of €2 million in the latest transfermarkt listings - has been capped twice at the Germany U21 level. His recent lack of playing time has nevertheless left him out of the plans of U21 trainer Antonio di Salvo. The striker was not taken into consideration for the upcoming UEFA U21 European Championship.
Bundesliga sammeln.
Viel Erfolg beim @kleeblattfuerth, Tim! 🙌 pic.twitter.com/EejpWFCg4C— 1. FC Köln (@fckoeln) June 16, 2023
