Luxembourg international Leandro Barreiro has reportedly concluded his negotiations to join Portuguese champions SL Benfica on a free after the season. Germany's preeminent footballing publication - citing Portuguese sporting media sources Record and A Bola - claims that the 24-year-old will sign a five-year-deal with Roger Schmidt's side. Official confirmation should come shortly.

Barreiro departs German football having played six top-flight seasons with FSV Mainz 05. The 54-times-capped international netted nine goals in 132 top-tier appearances. Barreiro was potentially linked with a stay in the Bundesrepublik, but this will evidently now not happen. In his ten remaining league fixtures with Rheinhessen, Barreiro will be battling relegation with his current German club.
