Dahoud switches allegiance to Syria

Mahmoud Dahoud has announced his decision to switch allegiance from Germany to Syria.
Mahmoud Dahoud has revealed that he will now play for Syria instead of Germany.

Born in Syria, Dahoud has lived in Germany since 1996. He has represented Germany at youth level and also has two caps for the senior team.

As both of those games were friendlies, Dahoud is free to switch his allegiance to Syria.

"Syria is my family's country of origin and my country of birth. And I learned early on from my family how privileged we are to live in Germany and how important it is to bring joy to the people of Syria. That is what I want to do and I am really looking forward to this project that is close to my heart," Dahoud said, according to Sky Germany.

The former Borussia Mönchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund midfielder is currently on loan at Stuttgart from Brighton.
