Werner will start tomorrow - but the German striker battle is still open

Timo Werner will start in tomorrow's friendly against Saudi Arabia, but it still isn't clear who will be the preferred striker at the World Cup.
Should Germany play Timo Werner or Mario Gomez up front at the World Cup?

At today's press conference, it was revealed that Timo Werner will start in tomorrow's test match against Saudi Arabia. However, the German coaching team still hasn't decided if Werner or Gomez will be the preferred striker in Russia, general manager Olver Bierhoff said today.

While Werner is a a young player with a bright future, Gomez has valuable experence and knows exactly how to prepare for a big tournament.

"He is very focused," Bierhoff said of Gomez according to Sport1.

Assistant manager Miroslav Klose says the two players have different qualities.

"Werner is young, and he can eventually become a world-class striker, because he is so dynamic (...) But he is still lacking something" Klose told sport.de and highlighted Mario Gomez' biggest quality:

"He is excellent in the penalty box."
