Bayern München will not be signing Leroy Sané this summer, club CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirmed after Friday's 2-2 draw with Hertha BSC.

The Bavarians have been heavily linked with Sané, but their interest has cooled - for now, at least - after the Manchester City winger picked up an anterior cruciate ligament injury which could keep him out for up to seven months.

Asked if Bayern will still try to bring Sané to Germany this summer, Rummenigge told reporters:

"No, people. Everyone knows what a cruciate ligament tear means and how long he will be out for."

Instead, Bayern have turned their attention to Coutinho, and Rummenigge is pleased that the Barcelona midfielder is on the verge of joining the Bavarians on a one-year loan deal.

"We've watched Coutinho for quite some time. The name doesn’t matter, only the quality," he said, as quoted by the club.
