Philippe Coutinho scored his first goal for Bayern München today as he smashed home a penalty in the German champions' 4-0 win over FC Köln.
Robert Lewandowski was chasing a hat-trick when the referee pointed to the spot, but despite that, he allowed Coutinho to take the penalty.
"It was a spontaneous decision. It means a lot for Philippe to score his first goal," Lewandowski told Bild after the game.
"I'm really happy for him. It's very important for his confidence. We have to help each other as players," he added.
Lewandowski's brace today took his Bundesliga goal tally to nine for the season.
