Werder Bremen are in talks to take Jannik Vestergaard on loan from Southampton in January, according to Deichstube.

'The Green-Whites' have apparently targeted the Danish international as they're looking to bring in a new centre-back in January.

Southampton should be open to send Vestergaard out on loan after he has slipped down the pecking order at the club this season.

Vestergaard joined Werder Bremen from Hoffenheim in January 2015 and went on to play 54 games for the club before moving on to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2016. Southampton paid €25 million to bring him to England in the summer of 2018.

Werder Bremen have also been linked with Hoffenheim's Kevin Vogt.
