Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz lauded praise on VfB Stuttgart after Wednesday's DFB-Pokal clash between the two sides.

While 'Die Werkself' ultimately managed to get the better of the of the 2. Bundesliga side by taking a 2-1 win, Havertz felt it was by no means an easy game.

"We knew this was going to be a difficult game. VfB didn't make it easy for us and countered well. The last minutes were unnecessarily exciting. Fortunately, we managed to defend well," he told Kicker after the final whistle.

Leverkusen coach Peter Bosz also gave credit to Stuttgart after what he thought was an underwhelming performance from his players.

"When I look at the game, I can't be satisfied. We played badly, partly because Stuttgart were really good," Bosz said.
