Schalke to extend Jean-Clair Todibo's loan spell?
Schalke 04 would like to keep Jean-Clair Todibo, but will struggle to meet the buyout clause of the FC Barcelona loanee. Therefore, his loan deal could be extended by a year.
Schalke 04 are unlikely to tie FC Barcelona loanee Jean-Clair Todibo down to a permanent deal at the end of the season amid the coronavirus pandemic.
When asked about the possibility of triggering the 20-year-old's release clause of €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons, Schalke head of sport Jochen Schneider told Kicker:
"You don't have to be a prophet to say that the probability has decreased due to the current crisis situation."
But as Schalke would like to keep Todibo, they could look into the possibility of extending his loan deal by another season, as per Kicker.
Todibo's contract with Barcelona runs until 2023.
