Ismail Jakobs confirms desire to play for Germany over Senegal

Ismail Jakobs wants to represent Germany over Senegal.
FC Köln youngster Ismail Jakobs has confirmed his intention to play for Germany over Senegal.

Jakobs, who was born in Germany, is of Senegalese descent through his father. It has been rumored that he has been approached about the possibility of playing for Senegal, but Kicker claims he has had no contact with the Senegalese Football Federation.

Under all circumstances, "Germany have priority," Jakobs confirmed to Kicker.

According to the German football magazine, Jakobs talked to Germany U21 coach Stefan Kuntz before the corona break.

The 20-year-old is likely to be called up by Kuntz at the next possible time and dreams of representing Germany at the Olympics next year.

Jakobs, who hasn't played for Germany at youth level in the past, has emerged as a first-team regular for FC Köln this season, making 14 Bundesliga appearances with two goals and one assist to his name.
