Lucas Tousart will be joining Hertha BSC on July 1 after the German capital club have reached an agreement with Olympique Lyon.
Hertha signed Tousart from Lyon in January, but let him stay in France on loan until the end of the season.
Since the coronavirus outbreak began, questions have been raised about Tousart's contract situation. The French Ligue 1 has been cancelled, but Lyon are still in the Champions League, which is widely expected to resume in August.
Nevertheless, Lyon have now agreed to let Tousart join Hertha when his loan spell ends on June 30, meaning the French club will have to manage without him once their Champions League campaign continues.
"We're really happy to have some clarity with Lucas and that we can finally welcome him to the club. We had some constructive conversations with Lyon and I'd like to thank them for that," explained Hertha boss Michael Preetz in a statement.
Tousart scored the winner as Lyon beat Juventus 1-0 in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash back in February.
