1. FC Heidenheim are set to face Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga promotion-relegation play-off after finishing third in the 2. Bundesliga.

Despite losing 3-0 to Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday, Heidenheim hung on to third place, one point clear of Hamburger SV, who blew the chance to clinch the play-off spot as they were thrashed 1-5 by Sandhausen.

Heidenheim will be travelling to the Weserstadion for the first leg against Werder Bremen on 2 July while the second game will be played at Voith-Arena on 6 July.

If they manage to come out on top against Werder, Heidenheim will be promoted to the Bundesliga for the first in the club's history.

Arminia Bielefeld and VfB Stuttgart will be directly promoted after finishing first and second respectively.
