Daniel Caligiuri is hoping to be given an attacking role at Augsburg following his summer move from Schalke 04.

The 32-year-old was sometimes used as a full-back at Schalke, but says he prefers to play further up the pitch.

"At Schalke, I had a good role on the right side of a five-man backline. I'm the kind of guy, who likes to be close to the penalty area. That's where I can show that I'm dangerous in front of goal," Caligiuri told Sport Bild and added:

"I prefer to play as a right or left winger or maybe in a central attacking role."

Caligiuri has put pen to paper on a contract until 2023 with Augsburg.
