Former Bayern München coach Jupp Heynckes has waxed lyrical about Thomas Müller in an article in the DFL Magazine.

According to Heynckes, the Bayern München star is the most exceptional German player of all time along with legendary striker Gerd Müller.

"For me, with his overall package, character and playing style, he is the most extraordinary player in German football history together with the great Gerd Müller," Heynckes stated.

"He is once again showing what has always distinguished him: being a team player, hard-working and hard-running. In addition to that, he's a driving force on the pitch, which is more clear now than ever."

Müller, 30, has made a total of 535 appearances for FC Bayern, racking up 199 goals and 193 assists.

He has played 100 games for Germany, scoring 38 times, but hasn't represented his country since November 2018 after being told he is no longer in the plans of head coach Joachim Löw.
