Alexander Sørloth: Erling Haaland's performances are a great motivation for me

New RB Leipzig signing Alexander Sørloth says Erling Haaland's instant success in Germany is a 'great motivation' for him.
Alexander Sørloth says he talked a lot with fellow Norwegian international Erling Haaland before joining RB Leipzig from Trabzonspor.

Haaland, 20, has been an instant hit in at Dortmund, scoring 19 goals in 22 games for 'Die Schwarzgelben' after his move from RB Salzburg in January, and Sørloth admits he has been inspired by his compatriot's performances in Germany.

"I have spoken a lot with my father, but also with Erling. He told me everything about the Bundesliga, especially that you can score a lot of goals here as a striker and that the games are often very open and played at a high tempo. I really like that," Sørloth, 24, told Sport Bild.

"I have a bit more experience than [Haaland], but his performances in the Bundesliga are a great motivation for me. Erling came to Germany and started scoring immediately, making no compromises. We are both hungry for goals. That's something we have in common.

"I've also been impressed with what Martin Ødegaard has done since he joined Real Madrid. We Norwegians have hardly had any players at top clubs in the past. They have both shown me that anything is possible," said the Norwegian striker.

Sørloth made his debut for RB Leipzig in last week's 1-1 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, coming on as a substitute.
