Mainz 05 have completed the signing of former Fortuna Düsseldorf midfielder Kevin Stöger.

The 27-year-old, who left Fortuna when his contract expired at the end of last season, arrives on a free transfer. He has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Mainz.

"Kevin Stöger has exciting qualities and is a player we have been looking at for some time. He's at home in central midfield and is capable of carrying and distributing the ball. With his left foot, he also increases our options in set-piece situations," said Mainz boss Rouven Schröder.

Stöger scored three goals and made 15 assists in 47 games for Fortuna Düsseldorf.
