Borussia Dortmund centre-back Mats Hummels has hailed 16-year-old teammate Youssoufa Moukoko as one of the best young players he has ever played with.

Moukoko became the Bundesliga's youngest ever player in November, making his top-flight debut one day after turning 16. In December, he went on to become the league's youngest scorer at 16 years and 28 days when he found the net in a 2-1 loss to Union Berlin.

32-year-old Hummels has played with a long list of young, talented players over the years, and he believes Moukoko deserves to be mentioned among the best of them.

"He's already really good. I played with Toni Kroos, Mario Götze and Christian Pulisic when they were 16 or 17, and Youssoufa is definitely one of the best players I've played with at that age," Hummels told Sport Bild.

Moukoko is just one of many talented youngsters at Dortmund, and Hummels is impressed with the mentality of his young teammates.

"When I look at the likes of Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham and Youssoufa Moukoko, they are all young players with a lot of determination, who know what it takes to win on the pitch," said the experienced Dortmund defender.
