Danny da Costa has joined Mainz 05 on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old, who has struggled for playing time at Frankfurt this season, commented:

"I'm looking forward to the opportunity to prove myself again in a new environment. I am aware that the situation is not so easy for Mainz 05 in sporting terms, but I believe that I can do my part to turn the situation around together with my teammates. We still have 17 games left and thus 17 chances to get out of the bottom of the table and emerge from this relegation battle stronger as a team, and we want to take advantage of them."

Mainz sporting director Martin Schmidt said:

"With Danny da Costa, we are gaining a robust fighter who can provide fresh impetus on the flank with his mentality and dynamism. With his defensive strengths and experience, he is an absolute asset for our team in the fight to stay in the league."

At Mainz, da Costa will join up with Dominik Kohr, who recently made the switch to 'Die Nullfünfer' on loan from Frankfurt as well.
