Genki Haraguchi leaves Hannover: 'I want to play in the Bundesliga again'

Genki Haraguchi is set to leave Hannover 96 on a free transfer.

Genki Haraguchi has announced that he will be leaving 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 on a free transfer when his contract expires this summer.

"I want to play in the Bundesliga again, that's the only reason I'm leaving Hannover. It has felt like I've been part of a family here," said the Japanese winger in a statement.

Where Haraguchi will continue his career is unclear at this point, but Union Berlin are said to be leading the race to acquire the 30-year-old.

Following their relegation from the Bundesliga, Schalke 04 are no longer in the race to land him.
