FC Köln working on a new deal for Salih Özcan after U-turn

FC Köln could extend Salih Özcan's contract after a U-turn from the midfielder.

Salih Özcan has been heavily linked with a move away from FC Köln, but now it seems he could stay after all.

According to Kicker, Özcan initially wanted to run down his contract, which expires on Wednesday, but new Köln coach Steffen Baumgart has made the 23-year-old change his mind.

"Talks are ongoing," said FC Köln sporting director Jörg Jakobs.

"Both sides can well imagine [a contract extension]. Now we have to see if we can reach an agreement."

Özcan, a former German youth international, has featured 94 times for FC Köln, racking up two goals and six assists.
