Official: Rodrigo Zalazar heads to Schalke on initial loan

Schalke 04 have confirmed the initial loan signature of Rodrigo Zalazar from Eintracht Frankfurt, the deal reportedly includes a option for Schalke to buy on a deal until 2025/26 - which is valid for the Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga.
Rodrigo Zalazar has made the switch from Hesse to Gelsenkirchen on a one-year loan deal.

The Spanish-born Uruguayan international impressed in his stint at FC St. Pauli last season, showing he was very talented at the second tier level.

Zalazar's deal includes no immediate loan fee for 'Die Königsblauen', but Eintracht added a buy-back clause which is valid from 2023 if Frankfurt feels they want him back.

“We are very happy that we have been able to bring Rodrigo Zalazar to Schalke 04,” said sporting director Rouven Schröder. “Rodrigo has everything a central midfielder needs: excellent understanding of tactics, both offensively and defensively; he’s also a tough tackler and adds another option to our attack.”
