At his first press conference as Germany coach, Hansi Flick waxed lyrical about Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus.

"Marco Reus is one of the best players in the final third for me, with the way he can open up spaces. That's why I see him as one of the best players in his position," said Flick.

After Germany's disastrous World Cup in 2018, now former coach Joachim Löw dropped Jerome Boateng, Mats Hummels and Thomas Müller from his squad, although the latter two returned for this summer's European Championship.

Asked about his plans with the veteran trio, Flick responded:

"I said it earlier, I want to have the best players. If Mats Hummels, Jerome Boateng and Thomas Müller put in top performances, then they'll be part of this team again."
