Hertha BSC coach Pal Dardai has blasted Matheus Cunha for his lack of work ethic during Sunday's 3-1 loss to FC Köln in the Bundesliga.

Speaking to German media in the wake of the game, Dardai didn't mince his words when discussing the 22-year-old's performance.

"In Germany, you can't just stop working when you're not in possession. Then everything falls apart," said the Hertha coach and added:

"There were scenes that were absolutely out of order. As a striker, just staying up front, walking back. I don't understand the world anymore. How does a footballer get into walk mode in 90 minutes? I don't know.

"It's my job to stop that. This is not youth football, but the Bundesliga.

"He's a good kid. But I ask myself why things like that can happen during a game. I'll talk to him, of course."

It's not the first time Cunha has been criticized heavily by a coach. Back in December, now former Hertha coach Bruno Labbadia blasted the Brazilian attacking midfielder after a 4-1 defeat to Freiburg.

"Something has to change immediately," fumed Labbadia.

"It's unacceptable. He let himself and his team down with his performance. It's very rare that I do something like this, but I'll say it honestly: I'm totally offended."

Cunha has been touted for a move away from the German capital this summer, with the likes of Atlético Madrid, Atalanta, Leeds United, Monaco and Napoli said to be keeping tabs on him.
