Ron-Thorben Hoffmann has extended his contract with Bayern München by a year until 2023 and will now be sent out on loan to English League one outfit Sunderland, according to Kicker.

It's further claimed that should Sunderland get promoted from the third to the second division, they will be obliged to sign the goalkeeper on a permanent basis.

The 22-year-old is expected to become the new number one at Sunderland, where England international Jordan Pickford, among others, came through the youth ranks.

Hoffmann made 25 appearances for Bayern's reserves last season. He has yet to make his senior debut.
