The club has officially confirmed the departure of Markus Anfang and his assistant Florian Junge, with Düsseldorf hovering just one point above the automatic relegation zone and winless in their last four matches.

Alexander Ende has been named as Anfang’s successor, taking charge with immediate effect for the final five games of the campaign. The 45-year-old was most recently in charge of Preußen Münster, parting ways with the club in March.

Ende faces an immediate and daunting challenge. His first match in charge sees Düsseldorf travel to fellow strugglers Magdeburg next Saturday in what is shaping up to be a crucial relegation six-pointer in the 2. Bundesliga.
