Official: Bayer Leverkusen sign Napoli full-back Miguel Gutiérrez

The Spaniard arrives from SSC Napoli and fills the void left by Alejandro Grimaldo who has since joined Atlético Madrid in Spain.

Bayer Leverkusen has officially announced the signing of left-back Miguel Gutiérrez from Serie A giants SSC Napoli.

The 25-year-old former Real Madrid academy talent has has put pen to paper on a contract with the Bundesliga club until June 2031. 

Gutiérrez moved to Italy a year ago from Girona, and helped Napoli to second place in the Italian topflight with 36 appearances. 

The technically gifted left-footer, who will wear the number 3 jersey, reportedly arrives for a fee in the region of €30million.

In signing the Spaniard, the Rhineland outfit have also essentially captured a like-for-like replacement for Alejandro Grimaldo.

“Miguel Gutiérrez is a technically gifted and offensively minded defender who fits well into our team. 

With him, we have implemented a new, very invigorating element for our Werkself," said Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes.
