As announced by the club on Friday, Ngankam is set to leave Frankfurt on his third loan spell in two years, joining Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old is expected to gain much-needed game time in the second half of the campaign. “Jessic had a difficult time last year, particularly due to his serious injury,” sporting director Timmo Hardung said in a statement. “It’s important for him now to regain his match rhythm. We wish Jessic a successful spell in Wolfsberg.” Ngankam reportedly had the option of returning to the 2. Bundesliga, but preferred a move abroad.
Ngankam has been limited to just four appearances in all competitions for Frankfurt this season, registering no goals or assists.
