Official: Rot-Weiss Essen sign Nürnberg loanee permanently

Jannik Hofmann will remain at the Hafenstraße as a permanent fixture ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

As announced on Friday, 12 June, 1.FC Nürnberg and Rot-Weiss Essen have officially agreed on a transfer of Jannik Hofmann.

Born in Bayreuth, Hofmann joined Nürnberg's youth academy in 2008 at the age of six and has progressed through all age groups since then.

In February 2024, the full-back made his first feam debut away to Wehen Wiesbaden, followed by nine further appearances.

After a loan spell at VfB Stuttgart II, Hofmann joined Rot-Weiss Essen on loan last season, just missing out on promotion to the 2. Bundesliga. 

Following a successful season in the Ruhr region, the 24-year-old has now made a permanent move to Rot-Weiss Essen.

"I was fortunate enough to become a professional footballer at my childhood club, which fulfilled a dream for me.

"However, everything fell into place for me personally last year in Essen, which is why I would like to continue my career at RWE. 

"I thank the club for everything and will always remain a Cluber," Hofmann said, bidding farewell to the Munich based club.
