TSG Hoffenheim has extended the contract of 23-year-old central defender Valentin Lässig, the club confirmed this afternoon.

Lässig joined Hoffenheim's U-12 team in 2014 at the age of eleven and has since progressed through all of the club's youth teams.

He progressed to the club's second team, Hoffenheim II, in 2021 and is now captaining them for the third consecutive season.

Lässig has also been included in Christian Ilzer's first team squad three times this season, further underlining his continued development.

“Valentin has consistently delivered strong performances in the 3rd division this season, thus recommending himself for higher-level challenges.

"He takes on responsibility, captains Hoffenheim II, and has already been part of our Bundesliga squad several times this season.

"We are very pleased that we will continue on this path together,” said Andreas Schicker, Sporting Director of TSG Hoffenheim.
